Ever Christmas I make my famous nuts and bolts. The traditional cereal yummies
made my way. I've been doing this for many years and in fact, my peeps around here
get excited and look forward to the container they know they will get (my older daughters friends ask about it all the time and literally fight over the container lol)
As we shelter in place and I'm thinking of things to cook and or bake I look on the pantry shelf and see we have most of the ingredients.
The smell will bring happy memories of Christmas time and let's face it we need snacks.
This recipe is a little of this and lots of that.
We're huge garlic fans so I use LOTS of garlic to make this very savory and extra delicious,
into a small pot over medium heat to melt
2 cubes butter (unsalted), 1/2 cup olive oil , garlic powder,
Italian seasoning, dash apple cider vinegar,
dash chili powder (more for depth of flavor than heat)
whorchestishire sauce (could use some
soy sauce if you don't have this)
, dash ground cumin, smoked paprika
Big roasting pan...
O cereals whether brand or off-brand -whole box
rice or corn cereal squares - whole box
pretzels - medium bag
can of mixed nuts or peanuts (optional)
dump into roasting pan, stir to mix all around
I coat this well with lots of garlic powder, yes it's in the butter mixture too
Preheat oven to 325
once the butter is melted, stir well and slowly pour half over mixture
and mix well with big spoon. bringing the mixture up from the bottom.
add second helping of the butter mixture and continue to stir in.
set timer for 25 minutes - when timer is up, take out and mix well-bringing
mixture up from the bottom.
back into the oven for another 25 minutes
timer goes off take out and mix again to see if all cereals have been browned
usually done at this point. (if not give another 15 minutes)
let cool and enjoy
will keep for a couple of weeks in the pantry
