My generation will certainly remember this campaign .

Where the small elf like characters show up while you eat your rice krispie cereral.

The box below was designed around the 1970's. When I was a kid.

Who didn't (doesn't) like to hear your cereral "talk" to you as you eat it.

But when is that classic marhmallow treat first created.....

Rice Krispies Treats were invented in 1927[2] by Malitta Jensen and Mildred Day at the Kellogg Company[3] home economics department as a fund raiser for Camp Fire Girls.

The Original Treats™ recipe......

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • 1 package (10 oz., about 40) JET-PUFFED Marshmallows

  • OR

  • 4 cups JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows

  • 6 cups Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal

Directions

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until coated.

2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated. 3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.

We've come along way with the various types of crispie treats made now.

but the stickiness and smiles it brings to faces all over is still part of this childhood classic gone gourmet.
